A Match Made in Heaven

Chocolate + Strawberries = Love

With Valentine’s Day weekend coming to an end, you might be looking for something simple, yet thoughtful to give that special someone on the actual day. This year, Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday which for most people means work and busy schedules. These easy, but festive, chocolate covered strawberries are the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth and let your Valentine know how much you care!

*Disclaimer: These chocolate covered strawberries also make a great addition to any girls’ night or dinner party so feel free to enjoy them year round in any setting 🙂

Ingredients: unnamed-4

  • Fresh strawberries (washed and dried–really, really dried)
  • Baker’s Chocolate Wafers (milk, dark, or white chocolate)
  • Assortment of Sprinkles

Instructions:

Before you begin, line a cookie sheet with wax paper and set aside.

1.) Wash the strawberries under cold water in a colander so the excess water strains away from the strawberries.

2.) Lay them out on paper towels to dry. You can pat them lightly with a paper towel. I like to dry each one individually so the chocolate goes on smoothy.

3.) Melt your chocolate wafers in the microwave according to the instructions on the packaging. Be careful not to burn the chocolate or you’ll create little lumps throughout the chocolate.

4.) Stir the chocolate throughout the heating process until it is nice and smooth.

5.) One at a time, hold each strawberry by the green leaves at the top and dip it into the chocolate.

6.) Lay each one flat on your prepared cookie sheet.

If you’re planning on decorating or using multiple types of melted chocolate, it’s better to work on a few strawberries at a time so the chocolate doesn’t start to harden before you’re done decorating.

For the strawberries above, I dipped some in milk chocolate and some in white chocolate. Then I worked quickly to add sprinkles or drizzle chocolate designs on top.

If you want to dip white chocolate covered strawberries into the milk chocolate or vice versa, let the first coating of chocolate settle and dry a for a few minutes first.

Once you’re done decorating, pop the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let the chocolate harden. Then when you’re ready for dessert, take the strawberries out of the refrigerator, arrange them on a plate or tray, and enjoy!
